2% Choir

Less than 2% of all popular music is produced by women, the Recording Academy used the power of music to highlight the impressive gap in professional inclusion.

The film is about a female choir performing a choral arrangement of Alicia Key’s single “Underdog”. One by one, we see the women in the choir sit and stop singing until just one woman – until just one, representing 2 % – stay. Like music, our film is dedicated to people who work for a better life, doing what they love. And, as part of the inclusion initiative #WomenInTheMix, the campaign highlights the need for more women in music production.
